MILLEBO & SKIRÖ

Our wedding will take place in Skirö Kyrka, in the middle of the Småland forest. This is the church closest to Josefin's family home, called Millebo. The pin in the map below is for the church.

HOW TO GET THERE

Arriving at Skirö/Millebo is unfortunately a bit of a journey as it lies in the rural parts of central Småland.

We recommend that you get to the site by car, and preferably putting as many people into said car as possible (road-trip!), since parking can be a bit scarce. And unfortunately the nearest bus stop is a 4 km away along a gravel road and runs no buses on the weekends.

The closest town to the wedding venue is Vetlanda, where several busses & a train arrives. Vetlanda is around 20 minutes away from Millebo with car. You might be able to rent a car here if you pick it up before the weekend through avis.se.

The closest city is Växjö, to where you can take both trains or bus from airport cities like Copenhagen, Gothenburg and Stockholm. Växjö is around 1,5 h away from Millebo by car. If you are coming from the south, i.e. Copenhagen/Malmö/Lund, then it could be viable for you to take the train to Växjö and rent a car from here.

WHERE TO STAY

Lodging at the summer residences is unfortunately limited and we've prioritized getting beds there for our closest family members. We have, however, gone looking for options and summarize it below.

Best Western Vetlanda Hotel

Vetlanda is the closest town to the wedding venue, only a 20 min drive away. We've secured a number of single (800 kr/night) and double rooms (1000 kr/night) at the Best Western Hotel, breakfast included, that our guests can book by email or telephone.

Sleepover at Millegården

For the friends that miss the feeling of summer camps, Millegården is the place for you, free of charge.

It was previously an evengalical free church building and lies next to Millebo, so just a 5 min drive from the venue. Since 2023 it is owned by a group of Josefin's family members, including the bride herself. It has been desanctified since then and is now used for table-tennis, watching football and get togethers for the big family.

You need to bring your own mattress, sleeping bag (or similar) to stay on the floor. You will be sharing this space with probably 20 other people, so we also recommend bringing ear plugs.

Note that the plan is that this is for the young adults (18+) that plan on staying up late at the venue partying.

Tenting at Millegården

Bring your own tent and pop it up outside Millegården for free. Also only a 5 min drive from the wedding venue.

We got toilets and running water but no electricity outside. What's there more to want?

Other options

Around Skirö there are vacation rentals, like cabins and houses, that you can find on sites like Airbnb and Booking.com. Just search for places near Skirö. Good option for families that might be thinking of staying for longer than just one night.

A 15 minute drive south of the wedding venue is Trollebo Manor Hostel with private rooms and a lake view.

Try to book early so you don't have to compete with all the German tourists!
